Twenty Years ago today, on the Ninth of November in the year 1989 of our Lord Jesus Christ, An event of Epic proportions began to take place in the Great yet divided city of Berlin, and eventually the rest of a then Divided Germany as well. This event would forever change the world and shall always stay in the minds of those who, like me, were there to witness it in all its glory. This event reunited thousands, no, Millions of people, who for the past 28 years had been separated from friends and loved ones. Yes, I am indeed talking of the great and magnificent fall of the greatest and most well know symbols of tyranny and oppression of the Twentieth Century; Der Sturz der Berliner Mauer - The fall of the Berlin Wall... An oppressive wall, the workings of which began even before Walter Ulbrict's Famous Lie "Niemand hat die Absicht, eine Mauer zu errichten!", was started on the Thirteenth of August in the year 1961 under the false guise of an 'antifaschistischer Schutzwall' construction never truly ended, as the DDR's Government continually added extra defences and structures through most of its history. Ironically, this great and powerful defence was brought down not by weapons and soldiers, but by the voices of 120,000 Nikolaikirche movement protesters chanting "Wir wollen raus!" and "Wir bleiben hier!" That was the beginning of the end of the USSR and all of its various branches... Since that day, we have been Free! We are a Free Nation of Free People! Our Economy is the third largest in the world! Our Story is one of the greatest tales to have ever been told and we will continue to add more to it as time goes on! Germany has held both historical and political significance since the days of Rome, it has been a central player in the development of history since the days of Charlemagne, and it will continue to influence western civilization till the End of Days. I ask all those who may read this that they make take the time to celebrate with Deutschland on this momentous occasion and party like its 1989!
